Kitchen Organization Tips to Perfect Your Remodel

Our lives revolve around the kitchen—a place where we complete many of our everyday activities. But three meals a day, every day, can quickly pile up kitchen clutter—and not only is a messy kitchen irritating, but it can be dangerous. Items shoved into cabinets and packed precariously onto shelves can easily fall on you or someone else, and nobody does their best work in a disorganized or badly designed space.

Kitchens should be havens, not hazards. A clean, well-designed kitchen is therefore integral to your home’s safety and enjoyment. At ED’s Paint and Decorating, we understand that a good meal comes out of a well-organized kitchen. We design custom kitchens and cabinets, so you have the storage and space you need not just for your morning coffee, but for luncheons, dinner parties, and holiday gatherings. Get the most out of your kitchen with our efficient kitchen tips:

Kitchen Organization Tips

1. Capitalize on storage

If you have low shelves or high alcoves, store your larger items in baskets and place them on top of cabinets or the refrigerator, or keep them out of sight in the pantry. Smaller, lighter items can go in a hanging rack over a pantry or cabinet door. Try to keep items off your counters to maximize your workspace.

2. Once you’ve organized your kitchen, it’s time to add space

New cabinets can maximize your storage. An island counter is incredibly useful to a large enough kitchen, but for kitchens crunched for space, a moving bar cart is a chic and functional substitute. Rolling bar carts are easily moved out of the way, and flat wood or marble countertops increase your workspace. Even better? Bar carts with cabinets give you additional, out-of-the-way storage.

3. Use lighting

Light breathes new life into any space, including your kitchen. An easy way to improve your kitchen’s lighting is to use your windows—a view to the outdoors actually emphasizes your indoor space.
